About the Role:

 

We are seeking an Innovation Intern to support technical projects within our Innovation Team. You will work across production, lab, and office environments, contribute to engineering and chemistry-related tasks, and complete a defined project during the session, presenting your findings and key learnings to a broad audience at the end.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in production facility tours with a focus on basic fiberglass manufacturing processes.
  • Learn about Knauf Insulation product groups and applications.
  • Practice and promote safe work methods in multiple settings.
  • Complete assigned project(s) during the session and deliver a summary presentation at session end.
  • Support Innovation Team members with engineering or chemistry-related tasks.
  • Collaborate and interact with Knauf Insulation personnel across various roles and functions.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Engineering, Chemistry, or another technical field.
  • Completion of at least the first full year of college/university.
  • Willingness to learn and take initiative.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem identification and solution development skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated creativity and originality in completing work.
  • Ability to travel for up to one week at a time.
  • Self-motivation, troubleshooting, time management, and critical thinking skills.
  • Proficiency in mathematics and/or chemistry.
  • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3D printing experience and familiarity with design software (bonus).
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
  • Comfortable working safely in production and lab environments with equipment such as power saws, cutting tools, high-temperature ovens, insulation machines, and thermal test equipment.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, and reaching with hands and arms.
  • Regular climbing/descending of stairs and ladders.
  • Exposure to fast-paced office, plant, and laboratory environments with moderate to loud noise levels.
  • Possible exposure to extreme temperature changes and dusty conditions.
