As a Maintenance Supervisor, you will be responsible for maintaining plant equipment and facilities to maximize production time and minimize unplanned downtime. Focus on key performance indicators to achieve peak efficiencies while staying within the established budget.

 

Responsibilities

  • Direct, supervise and follow-up on trades to accomplish minimal machine downtime, provide for effective routine maintenance and support Operations group as Internal Customers
  • Ensure quality of work, provide performance feedback, and identify/close training gaps
  • Support Process group in implementing process improvement projects and routines. Support Engineering department in implementing and installing new equipment or making modifications to existing equipment
  • Emphasize safe procedures, work habits and housekeeping to accomplish minimal department injuries and to accomplish total compliance with outside agencies
  • Assist and direct projects as directed by Maintenance Management
  • Continually improve the skill level of the trades through on-the-job training, vendor training, specialized classes, etc.
  • Supervise outside contractor’s efforts when services are needed to supplement plant maintenance crafts
  • Ensure that the outside contractors perform to Knauf’s safety standards
  • Support the Operations group to accomplish clean-outs and machine rebuilds in a timely fashion
  • Assist as requested with weekend, holiday and call-in maintenance
  • Maintain shop equipment as needed
  • Control the Storeroom spare parts. Purge obsolete parts from system, add new parts as required and follow up to see that maintenance personnel are properly requisitioning parts from the stores
  • Work with Planner to ensure planned work is scheduled weekly
  • Manage Maintenance CAPEX projects as needed

Qualifications

Education

  • Associate’s degree in mechanical or electrical technology
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or other technical field preferred

Experience:

  • Minimum five (5) years engineering/maintenance experience in an industrial manufacturing environment  
  • Minimum two (2) years of supervisor/leadership experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively throughout the plant
  • Ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Ability to coach and mentor others; provide routine feedback and ensure goals are met.
  • Ability to handle multiple responsibilities under limited supervision in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to drive equipment reliability, accessibility and maintainability
  • Ability to perform routine maintenance on equipment and determine when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
  • Ability to travel approximately 10-15% of the time depending on the business needs
  • Ability to work additional hours at time when requested (emergencies, plant shut down, etc.)
  • Knowledge of maintenance and management principles involved in project planning, resource allocation and leadership techniques
  • Knowledge of an ERP system such as SAP preferred

  • Computer skills in a MS windows environment; proficient in Word and Excel
