About the Role: 

 

As a Controls Technician, you will be at the heart of our manufacturing operations, ensuring the safety, efficiency, and reliability of our electrical control systems and instrumentation. Your role involves installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting automated equipment while collaborating with engineering, maintenance, and production teams to resolve issues and implement improvements. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a tangible impact on our operations by driving innovation, minimizing downtime, and supporting continuous improvement in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment.

Responsibilities

  • Modify, troubleshoot, and support Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs), and related automation software.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical and control system faults, including sensors, relays, VFDs, safety circuits, and instrumentation.
  • Assist with the installation and commissioning of new equipment, control panels, and system upgrades.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical codes, OSHA, NEC, and NFPA standards, while following all plant safety policies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement system improvements that enhance reliability, safety, and efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of control systems, including schematics, PLC/HMI code backups, and equipment configurations.
  • Provide training and guidance to technicians and operators on the proper use and troubleshooting of automated systems.
  • Drives the highest levels of employee retention and engagement to ensure a sustainable workforce.

Qualifications

  • Education & Training: Formal training in digital electronics or microprocessor controls with an industrial electronics background.
  • Experience: 5-10 years of maintenance experience in a heavy industrial environment, with expertise in PLCs, HMIs, VF drives, and control systems. Proficiency in Rockwell PC applications (RS Linx, RS Logix, etc.) and familiarity with Allen Bradley and Siemens systems is required.
  • Skills: Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with the ability to adapt to changes and work efficiently under pressure. Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and AutoCAD is a plus.
  • Knowledge: Understanding of pneumatics, hydraulics, rotating machinery, welding, and fabrication, as well as national electrical regulations and arc flash safety.
