Summary of Position: 

 

The Plant Controlling Manager plays a pivotal role as a trusted advisor and strategic business partner to manufacturing leadership, while also leading and managing the North American plant controlling team. This position is key to fostering the growth and development of team members, empowering them to achieve both their personal goals and the Company’s objectives.

As a strategic partner to plant teams, the Plant Controlling Manager ensures the accuracy and integrity of plant-level financial records and leverages this data to drive operational improvements. By delivering insightful cost and performance analyses, providing forward-looking guidance, and identifying opportunities with actionable alternatives, the Plant Controlling Manager adds significant value to the organization and supports manufacturing customers in achieving optimal results.

Responsibilities

  • Inspire and Lead: Guide your team in achieving the department’s vision and goals, fostering a culture of collaboration and success.
  • Mentor and Develop Talent: Lead and mentor employees, supporting their growth through personalized development plans that align with company needs and their career aspirations.
  • Ensure Financial Integrity: Oversee the accuracy of manufacturing financial records by implementing robust control procedures across plants, enabling deeper analysis and operational improvements.
  • Drive Budgeting and Forecasting: Manage manufacturing budgets and forecasting activities across multiple plants to ensure financial alignment and efficiency.
  • Strategic Support: Partner with the SVP of Manufacturing and Sr. Manager of Controlling to communicate plant performance, identify improvement opportunities, and deliver ad-hoc reporting and analysis.
  • Foster Cross-Functional Collaboration: Build strong relationships across departments to ensure seamless communication and teamwork, driving plant operations toward shared goals.
  • Empower Manufacturing Teams: Provide analytical and reporting support to manufacturing teams, enabling data-driven decision-making and performance optimization.
  • Champion Continuous Improvement: Support the K100 ambition of achieving Superior Performance by focusing on Lowest Delivered Cost and driving Continuous Improvement initiatives.
  • Optimize Working Capital: Collaborate with Finance colleagues and area owners to manage and optimize working capital, ensuring proper controls around inventory valuation and existence.
  • Monitor Industry Trends: Stay ahead of external impacts and trends that influence manufacturing costs, providing proactive insights to drive strategic decisions.
  • Drives the highest levels of employee retention and engagement to ensure a sustainable workforce.
  • Fosters a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability within the organization.
  • Instills an environment of inclusion, where all employees feel that they can contribute and impact the company in a positive manner.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or related field

 

Experience:

  • Minimum five (5) years’ of accounting experience, preferably in a plant/manufacturing environment

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Familiarity with ERP systems, such as SAP, is highly preferred, with the ability to leverage these tools for efficient financial management.
  • Skilled in analyzing manufacturing statements, identifying large or unusual variances, and determining root causes to drive actionable insights.
  • Experienced in preparing budgets and reviewing plant and operational inputs within a plant or industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Strong ability to solve complex problems to ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial records.
  • Capable of preparing detailed analyses to support financially efficient plant operations and drive cost optimization.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with the utmost professionalism and discretion.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage positively and professionally across all levels of the organization.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple responsibilities and priorities effectively, even under limited supervision.
