Summary of Position:

 

As a Product Line Manager, you are responsible for managing a bundle of Knauf's products and application methods. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to drive the evolution of the Knauf Insulation product offering.  Support the commercialization and engineering of new products to meet design vision, end user and channel partner requirements, and company’s financial goals by creating business case (including ROI analysis) and comprehensive plan.  Contribute to product marketing plans to achieve sales and profit objectives for allocated brands/products by constantly assessing product acceptance and managing products from their development through the exit of the Knauf product family.

Responsibilities

Research and Analysis

  • Compile and present competitive landscapes and market requirements.
  • Identify opportunities for product and/or application innovation or enhancements by understanding voice of customer
  • Identify opportunities for product line margin enhancement via price premium or cost reduction opportunities.
  • Conduct and utilize research to support product innovation efforts.
  • Understand current and emerging code adoption and enforcement, and position KINA product offering accordingly to ensure full compliance and/or to exploit competitive advantage opportunities.

 Product Planning and Management

  • Determine consumer and channel partner requirements and product use profiles to use for product specifications.
  • Align product specifications to codes and standards; industry norms, and user expectations.
  • Determine product packaging, identification and materials handling & storage solutions.
  • Redesign and oversee product development process.
  • Collaborate with Marketing Managers and other PLM to execute effective SKU rationalization process
  • Work to continuously optimize product line SKU assortment and communicate changes with cross functional teams.
  • Collaborate with Plant Manufacturing personnel to stay well-informed of product manufacturing capabilities
  • Lead development of strategic product plans based on in-depth understanding of market segmentation, market trends, end-user needs, and channel implications

 Product Marketing

  • Prepares sales and profit estimates and project manages production and distribution for promotions, etc.
  • Liaises with internal departments and external agencies to ensure full communication and success of marketing plans.
  • Contributes to creativity of product packaging, presentation, promotional activities and Training / MarComm.
  • Constantly monitors performance of managed brands/products to ensure it meets organization objectives 

Support of Portfolio Management

  • Determine superior performance attributes of solutions to support premium pricing strategies.
  • Determine strategies to offer substitution alternatives to customers that are using or have used an eliminated product.  
  • Identify opportunities to reprice products that do not have alternatives to lower produced unit costs.
  • Consider offering discounted options to pool similar products to extend order quantities and take advantage of raw material synergies and purchasing economies.

Qualifications

Education

  • Minimum: Bachelor Degree
  • Preferred in the fields of Engineering / Building Science / Material Science

 Experience:

  • Minimum of seven (5) years of experience in product management / development
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in the building or material science field

 Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of, and experience with leading practices for SKU management, and new product development.
  • Expert level user of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point), Adobe Acrobat
  • Experience in use of Project Management applications (Microsoft Project, SciForma or other) preferred
  • SAP and Salesforce experience preferred
