Pay Rate:

$33.85/hour

 

Perfect Attendance Bonus: $.75/hour

Responsibilities

The Machinist/Fabricator position is responsible for building and maintaining machine tools and industrial machines. The machinist will also be responsible for following technical drawings and using knowledge of mathematics to produce precision parts. To be successful as a machinist you must have excellent coordination and knowledge of mechanics. A good machinist puts safety and accuracy at the forefront of all tasks. Fabrication duties include cutting, grinding, and welding to produce equipment and parts as required.

 

A description of the general activities will include, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Operates and maintains lathe and milling machines.
  • Reviews drawings, instructions, blueprints or samples to ensure accurate production.
  • Takes precise measurements for cutting or shaping.
  • Selects appropriate machine and settings for a given task.
  • Plans proper sequence of tasks to complete the assignment.
  • Monitors production, adjusting feed and other settings as necessary.
  • Maintains inventory of completed products, as well as raw stock.
  • Checks output for quality assurance and documents or discards defects.
  • Identifies need for and performs machine maintenance and minor repairs.
  • Maintains a safe and clean work environment.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
  • Check measurements and dimensions of each piece that’s being worked on with rulers, measuring tapes or squares
  • Place each product component in its appropriate spot as noted in the blueprints for proper alignment by using a hammer, pry bar, jack, wedge or another tool
  • Mark spots to cut and use tools to manipulate steel, plastic or other materials by cutting, hammering, bending or grinding the workpiece
  • Review blueprints, drawings and other specification papers before starting work on a fabrication process and during the steps to ensure accurate completion
  • Maneuver fabrication machines, such as grinders, drill presses, brakes, rolls, shears and flame cutters to cut, bend, grind and adjust materials
  • Make templates for common work tasks when conducting repetitive motions for the fabrication process to ensure a set standard of work quality
  • Perform environmental, quality and energy responsibilities as assigned
  • Performs other work related duties and projects as directed

Qualifications

Education: 

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Machinist qualification required
  • Certified welder preferred

 

Experience:

  • Minimum five (5) years’ hands-on Mechanical experience in and industrial manufacturing facility with knowledge of machine tooling and fabrication procedures and techniques preferred.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  •  Good oral and written communication skills and good team building skills.
  •  Capability to work in an unsupervised position effectively.
  • Adhere to assembly safety standards
  • Assist mechanics and machinists in repair work
  • Dismantle, repair, and re-assemble various production accessories
  • Ensure all parts are properly fitted, aligned, and screwed in
  • Fabricate equipment or accessories to new equipment
  • Follow company safety policies and procedures
  • Follow job safety analysis
  • Keep tool area in order
  • Maintain a production schedule
  • Maintain daily time records
  • Mark cutting lines on material
  • Operate hand tools as required
  • Operate plant and mobile equipment
  • Participate in product development meetings
  • Perform all welding and fabrication activities
  • Perform general housekeeping of work area
  • Provide on-the-job training to new employees
  • Read/interpret shop orders, drawings, etc.
  • Report and detail product malfunctions
  • Set up and operate fabrication machines
  • Test products for their functionality
  • Troubleshoot production line machinery to minimize problems
  • Verify dimensions and product specifications
  • Perform other related duties as assignents

Physical Demands:
