Summary of Position: 

 

As an Electrical Project Engineer, you will provide design and project management expertise for electrical/control systems projects related to process improvement and machine performance optimization across all North American plants. Pursue technology to improve safety, quality and profitability. Perform PLC, HMI, Drive and Servo design and programming. Manage Contractor relationships and all large capital projects. Collaborate with other groups throughout the company, traveling approximately 30% of the time. Travel may increase during plant rebuilds. Contribute to standardization efforts of controls, network, and power equipment in the KINA facilities using assets management.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all large capital projects
  • Perform Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), HMI, Drive, programming
  • Oversee new plant projects and upgrade/redesign existing equipment from design/specification through completion
  • Develop scopes of work, request quotes, write purchase orders, coordinate internal and external project team members, monitor and adhere to the budget and timeline, etc.
  • Manage outside Contractors performing new and upgrade electrical work
  • Pursue technologies to improve safety, product quality, plant profitability and operating efficiency by reducing scrap, lowering maintenance costs, etc.
  • Coordinate and implement OEM equipment
  • Assist Corporate HSE in developing electrical safety practices across Knauf Insulation North America
  • Support plant rebuilds as needed
  • Provide additional training and development support for plant Craftsmen, Operators and Engineers

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in EE or EET

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Minimum 5 Years of experience
  • Knowledge of Rockwell PLC and HMI’s
  • Knowledge of Ethernet networking
  • Knowledge of Electrical power/control design and codes
  • Knowledge of Computer Programming/Configuration and Office applications
  • Knowledge of Computer and Electrical Equipment programming
  • Computer skills in MS Windows environment; proficient in Word, PowerPoint and Excel
